What is Toyota Safety Sense 2.5?

Advanced Safety for Your Protection

What is Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 and what is new with the suite of driver aids? With your new Toyota vehicle, you can expect an advanced bundle of technologies designed to keep you protected. With this software on-board, front collisions, lane departures and nighttime blunders are avoided with the help of the latest safety features. Because the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ Pre-Collision features continue to evolve, it’s important to know what is new and changing. At World Toyota, we can show you these features on a new 2021 Toyota Camry or other compatible Toyota models. Schedule your test drive today in Atlanta, GA.

What is Included with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5?

The TSS 2.5+ software builds on the previous suite by boosting the best functionalities – the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC). These systems include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection and adaptive cruise control. Plus, the TSS 2.5+ suite continues offering other functions, such as automatic high-beam headlights for nighttime visibility and lane-keeping assistance with both road-edge detection and steering assistance so the vehicle never veers off course.

With the release of the new Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ software, the features take functionality to a whole new level. Beyond the basics of detecting a vehicle that is up ahead of you, the system avoids accidents proactively. It’s now capable of sensing a bicyclist, vehicle or pedestrian in all light conditions. If you are making a left-hand turn and an obstacle is detected, you will receive visual and audio alerts to get your attention. If that isn’t enough to stop you, the vehicle will apply automatic braking to avoid a collision. Additionally, the adaptive cruise control system makes it easier to pass a slower vehicle by increasing the speed when it comes time to change lanes. Once you activate the turn signal to switch lanes, the system automatically accelerates until it reaches a preset speed. The Toyota safety features are protecting you from every angle.

Compatible Toyota Models for Your Protection

What is Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ compared to the previous generations? The Toyota Safety Sense suite first debuted in 2015 and has undergone a lot of changes since its initial inception. From Lane Tracing Assist to Road Sign Assist and Lane Departure Alert, you can find all of the most sophisticated programs on newer Toyota vehicles. For now, the most advanced Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ suite with the newest Pre-Collision System (PCS) is only available on the 2021 Toyota Camry or 2021 Toyota Highlander models.

While many of the models are using Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, a rollout of the updated version is coming to most vehicles soon. These high-tech systems not only make driving more enjoyable, but they also make it possible to enjoy a safe ride. It’s just one reason that Toyota vehicles continue to fare so well in safety ratings, often being labeled a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS.
